After years of working with composer Nathan Hall on various other projects, Leah is excited to perform the role of Voice 1 in his new opera “Atlas of Remote Islands” this May!
Inspired by the book Atlas of Remote Islands: Fifty Islands I Have Not Visited and Never Will with libretto by Alan Olejniczak, the opera is a journey through an atlas of fifty real, remote islands with maps and prose-poem stories; more for the imagination than for navigation, offering more questions than answers.
The audience experiences the histories and facts, lore and fantasies of these islands through the eyes of this main character, —who in exploring distant worlds through the pages of the atlas unlocks worlds within themself.
The premiere is co-produced by Opera on Tap Colorado, Nathan Hall, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and will be performed at the historic Holiday Theater in Denver’s Highlands.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6, 2023.
